The White Bear Lake school system offers a quality education for students of all ages from elementary school through high school. There are eight elementary schools for students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. They include Birch Lake, Lincoln, Otter Lake, Vadnais, Parkview, Lakeaires, Oneka and Willow Lane. Central Middle School and Sunrise Park Middle School are for grades six through eight. The White Bear Lake High School - North Campus are for grades nine and ten while White Bear Lake High School - South Campus is for grades 11 and 12. When you move to White Bear Lake with your pet, the city makes it easy to register and license your dog or pet. You must license your dog in the city and the licenses need to be renewed every two years. Animal Control Services patrols the streets for strays. If you see a stray or if your pet has strayed from your home, call the City of White Bear Lake Dispatch Center at (651) 429-8511 to make a report or to find out if your pet has been picked up.
The White Bear Lake Area Community Counseling Center has been serving the needs of the community since 1971. It offers counseling services to juvenile offenders and their families as well as other services which include mental health services, programs for children with emotional problems and more. Staff members also work with White Bear Lake schools and students to help overcome learning disabilities and other problems. The center is located at 1280 North Birch Lake Boulevard and you can reach the offices by calling (651) 429-8544.
White Bear Lake makes it a point to encourage recycling. Recyclables are picked up on the same day as your normal trash, but it is picked up by different trucks. Containers for recyclables are blue while regular waste containers are green. Make sure they are at least five feet away from any obstructions so the truck\'s mechanism can pick them up easily and without damage to property. Veolia Garbage Services is the company that the city has contracted to pick up the garbage and residents are billed quarterly for the service. For a 30 gallon standard trash container, you are billed $8.65 each month for senior citizens and $8.84 for non-senior citizens.
